PAD based creams and lotions have the following characteristics:
- Low concentration of surfactant
- Efficient choice and use of non active excipients
- “Pleasant” in-use, aesthetic qualities
- Low temperature and efficient manufacture processes
PAD creams can contain 60% or more of alcohol (ethyl or isopropyl) without becoming unstable. This enables effective topical products to be made with significantly higher concentrations of alcohol for performance equivalent to standard alcohol gel solutions or gels for high performance kill of pathogenic organisms without stripping the skin of lipids thereby causing painful drying and cracking of skin. Thus, the following characteristics can be added to PAD-based creams:
- High kill rate for most bacteria, yeasts, fungi and viruses.
- The Concentrate used is a BLF.
- Kills 90% of tested viruses, bacteria and fungi within 30 seconds and Kills 99.99% of tested viruses, bacteria and fungi within 5 minutes
- Up to 3 hours long lasting protection
- Non toxic to humans or animals and will not damage the skin
- Low PH mimics the skin with no drying or cracking of skin
